For Microsoft accounts ----------------------------------- POP3: ----- Incoming: pop3.live.com Outgoing: smtp.live.com IF NOT WORKING USE THE FOLLOWING: Incoming: outlook.office365.com Outgoing: smtp.office365.com IMAP: ----- Incoming: outlook.office365.com Outgoing: smtp.office365.com GMAIL: ------------------------------------ POP3: ----- Incoming: pop.gmail.com Outgoing: smtp.gmail.com IMAP: ----- Incoming: imap.gmail.com Outgoing: smtp.gmail.com [INSERT MORE EMAIL CLIENTS HERE] Step 4 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- as your account name put in your FULL email adress. Outlook will already have something standing there like john.doe (if email: john.doe@gmail.com) Make sure to put in your whole email adress VERY IMPORTANT: Make sure that the box saying "Log on using Secure Password Authentication (SPA)" is NOT checked Step 5 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Uppon finishing setup wizard click on "Tools" then "Accounts" then click on the "Mail" tab and click on the name of your email account. Then click on "Properties", then click on the "Servers" tab and tick the box saying "My Server Requires Authentication" THE NEXT STEP CAN BE DIFFERENT DEPENDING ON IF YOU ARE USING POP OR IMAP ------------------------------------------------------------------------ FOR POP: -------- Click on the "Advanced tab and tick the 2 boxes which say "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)" (MAKE SURE TO TICK BOTH OF THEM) For the "Outgoing Mail (SMTP)" type in the port 25 (IF THAT DOESNT WORK RETURN TO THE ADVANCED TAB AGAIN AND TYPE IN THE PORT 587) For the "Incoming Mail (POP3)" type in the port 995 For IMAP: --------- Click on the "Advanced tab and tick the 2 boxes which say "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)" (MAKE SURE TO TICK BOTH OF THEM) For the "Incoming Mail (IMAP)" type in the port 993 For the "Outgoing Mail (SMTP)" type in the port 587 (NOTE: The settings in step 5 apply to (almost) every email account wether its a GMAIL or HOTMAIL account) (Note 2: For some reason the servers REQUIRE you to have TLS 1.1 for the first time you want to connect to them. After connecting for the first time tho it would also wotk with TLS 1.0 for some reason I have also tried getting this method somehow to work on Windows 2000 and 98SE but it failes. It currently ONLY supports Windows XP Servicepack 3.
